Strictly for my writer friends
For my writer friends! This is really last minute, I know, and sorry for that, I am still in the process of downsizing, packing up and moving (seems to be never ending, if you missed why, read this post). But for a few more days Holly Lisle’s short story class will be discounted to $67. The price will go up to $97 on July 26, 2018 at 10 PM EDT. I have taken many of Holly’s classes, AND I am going to take this one. Why? Because writing short is something I struggle with, and I would like to write some shorter works–maybe not short stories, but perhaps novellas, so I can publish faster. I HIGHLY recommend Holly’s classes, she’s a great teacher. I’m going to paste her copy below because I am so short on time. But I do unhesitatingly recommend any of her classes, and again, yes, I am taking this one myself.
Holly says:
So if you’re a writer, and you want to improve your short fiction skills, why do you want this class?
Because it’s built around the questions of every writer who answered my question:
What are the biggest problems you’re having writing good short stories?
(And if you want to see the questions, I have all of them listed at the bottom of the class registration page.)
Because it’s built around my personal techniques and solutions to those problems, developed over years of writing short fiction in various markets, to specific themes, to hard deadlines — and selling them.
Because it eliminates theory in favor of what works.
In this class, I’ll walk you step by step through:
- how to Think Short — how to come up with short story ideas (which are DIFFERENT than novel ideas),
- how to Plan Short — how to develop your short fiction so that it stays short and tells a great story,
- how to Write Short — how to make it the story you want while bringing it in at the length you need,
- how to End Short — how to write the RIGHT ending that makes readers say, “More by THIS writer, please!”
- how to Revise Short — how to understand what you’ve written, save what’s great, fix what’s broken, do it quickly, and get it out the door
And THEN, how to take your storytelling skills and use them to…
- develop stories for theme anthologies, contests, marketing your longer fiction, and other specific purposes
- control story time in fiction (Need 2000 years in 6000 words? You can do that)
- write short stories that bring the best of you to your chosen genres, whatever they might be
The class consists of:
- 8 comprehensive, in-depth lessons with worksheets
- forum for discussions and help
- in-lesson and downloadable demos
- example stories from my own work
- permanent access to class and all in-version upgrades.
One price. ($67 until Thursday, July 26, 2018, 10 PM EDT)
The FINAL class price will be $97.
