Monday Musings: It’s still hot in Texas
This will be short, I need to work on my fiction writing. But in case you wondered, yes, it’s still hotter than blazes in Texas. So hot that my car battery spontaneously died at work one day last week. My daughter came to the rescue and went to buy a new battery for me since I was at work…but there was none in our small town. Fortunately, the next day she had to go to the big city and she was able to find a battery for my car. Apparently, excessive heat is tough on batteries and auto parts stores in our small town have trouble keeping them in stock.
We are still in 100 plus degree temperatures, and on Friday, which is September 8, by the way (meaning it’s supposed to be turning to fall time weather-hint, hint, Mother Nature), we are forecast to have a record breaking temperature of 107. Record breaking for September, that is. We’ve certainly had hotter days throughout the summer this year.
This past week, we had a small cool front so it was down in the mid-90s for a few days. You wouldn’t think 10 degrees makes much difference but when your day job is working outside in the heat, it really does make a difference. Hopefully, this week is the last week of heat and we’ll at least cool back down into the 90s again for next week. With Texas, though, you never know.
I do know, I’m ready for winter! Hope it’s cooler where you are!
