Monday Musings: Write Your Way Home
Now that I’m writing again, I’m going to start trying to blog in a somewhat consistent manner. (How’s that for wishy-washy?) On Mondays, I plan to call my blogs Monday Musings and keep you up to date with what is going on. Ok, to be honest, not much is going on in my life other than the day job and writing. So I might not have musings every Monday. But I’ll muse when I can.
But to blog about musing today, first, I’m having a lot of trouble just remembering how to work my website, and I guess that’s part of what I’ll be talking about. Things I have to relearn. I had started on a plan back in 2020 to reboot my career, and I bought a notebook which remained mostly unused, that I labeled Phoenix Rising hoping to rebirth my writing career back from the ashes. Yeah, well, 2020, we all remember what happened then. And writing was not one of the things that happened, at least for me.
So now, I’m taking that unused notebook and using it again, making my plans. The list is long. I mean, long. I could get easily overwhelmed but I follow Sarra Cannon’s Heartbreathing’s HB90 plan and it helps me break things down in small, more manageable bites.
The above picture is taken with my cheap phone, so sorry for the quality. But this year, my aunt and uncle sent me an Amazon card for my birthday. It came in this cute little box and I thought, why not write something inspirational on a card and set that on my desk so I can see it daily. To, well, keep myself inspired.
I chose: Write Your Way Home to remind myself of my ultimate goal to be able to ditch the day job and get back home writing and publishing again.
Second, what else is going on? Well, I AM writing. I’m working on a vampire story to dip my feet back into the author world. I had so much fun with my other vampire story, Blood on a Texas Moon, and the way it ended I thought I gotta find out what happens to Stephen and Virginia, so I’m working on that now.
I am also working on Forced to Trust, the next story in the Vista Security Series. Given the subject matter in this book, I first wanted to do something more fun and lighthearted (yes, vampires are a bit more lighthearted than my Vista and Mafia group) as well as a shorter story to get myself back into the daily writing habit. Like they say, the brain is a muscle and I gotta get used to using it again, at least for something outside the day job. But as for Forced to Trust, I’m about 1/3 of the way finished and taking notes, doing research and firming up my plot.
I also plan to post snippets from my works in progress on Wednesdays. And on Fridays, I have a frugal blog planned. I was a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom of six kids, and now I’m surviving working retail, so I know a thing or two about frugal living. Since inflation is here to stay for a while, I thought I’d share my tips with you.
That’s all for now, Monday Musings are mused out!
And if you’ve found your way back to my blog after years away, let me know what you’re doing! (I think I have to approve your comments so that’s something else I have to remember how to do! )
